On Tuesday, September 22, the US House of Representatives passed a Continuing Resolution that extends P-EBT and USDA’s authority to issue waivers through FY 2021, increases SNAP and WIC flexibility, and includes $8 billion in nutrition assistance. This is an important step in ensuring that North Carolina families have access to food.
Please contact Senators Burr and Tillis and urge them to pass the Resolution!
Before COVID-19, NC was the 10th hungriest state in the country. Now, more than 900,000 NC students qualify for free- or reduced-price lunch. Feeding America estimates that more than 19% of adults and more than 28% of children in NC are food insecure, up from 14% and 19% respectively in 2018. P-EBT, school meals, SNAP, and WIC are critical to ensuring that all North Carolinians have access to healthy food.
