Race to Quit, NC Kick-Off Press Conference

The next Alliance quarterly membership meeting will be held Monday, October 5 from 1:30pm – 3:30pm at the offices of the American Heart Association, located at 3131 RDU Center Drive, Suite 100, Morrisville. This meeting will include:

  • a brief wrap-up of the 2015 legislative session;
  • an update on NCAH activities related to our Voices for Healthy Kids grant;
  • a brief summary of a Master’s student thesis on restaurant and bar owners experience with the smoke-free law and their interest in additional policies, such as banning e-cigarettes and smoke-free outdoor dining; and,
  • a presentation about suggested ways to speak to the media, partners, managers/owners and citizens about e-cigarettes and their impact on tobacco use and policy.

Preceding the NCAH membership meeting will be the Race to Quit, NC kick-off press conference at 11am. Race to Quit, NC partners will be receiving additional information about this press conference separately. Race to Quit, NC is a week-long campaign to promote the importance of and resources for tobacco-use cessation in North Carolina.

Following the press conference, a boxed lunch will be provided by Pfizer, Inc. The lunch will offer a networking opportunity for both Race to Quit, NC partners and NCAH members. At approximately 1:15pm a short debrief about the Race to Quit, NC press conference will be provided to NCAH members who were unable to attend the press conference. NCAH’s membership meeting will begin promptly at 1:30pm.
