Tell Congress not to repeal the
Prevention and Public Health Fund!

Repealing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) would eliminate the Prevention and Public Health Fund (PPHF) and North Carolina could lose
  • at least $85,917,320 to counter public health crises over the next 5 years;
  • $17,183,464 in annual prevention fund grants; and
  • $5,704,727 that goes directly to chronic disease prevention including diabetes, heart disease, and stroke prevention and tobacco cessation programs.
The funding provided by the PPHF to prevent chronic disease is critical to address the major health crises in our state and provides basic infrastructure that is essential for public health services. Because the state does not provide funding for many of these services the PPHF is particularly important for the sustainability of North Carolina prevention programs.

Ask your member of Congress not to repeal the Prevention and Public Health Fund!

The PPHF provides funding for tobacco cessation and obesity prevention efforts in our state, including programs and positions on which NCAH relies to effectively achieve our mission. Eliminating the PPHF would wreak havoc on our efforts to reduce chronic disease rates in North Carolina.

Take action today!

If the Prevention Fund is eliminated, the impact will be felt at the local, state, and federal levels as public health organizations respond to several major health crises that are on the rise30.1 percent of adults in North Carolina are obese and 16.1 percent of children are overweight or obese,” according to the Trust for America’s Health. Further, e-cigarette use among North Carolina high school students rose 888% between 2011 and 2015.

Act now to protect prevention funding!
