What We’re Hearing From Jones Street
Both chambers have now passed their COVID-19 recovery packages. Appropriations Chairs spent most of Thursday developing a compromise package. While a budget agreement has been reached, the chambers are still negotiating key policy provisions. The package totals around $1.6 billion, and spends federal funding provided to the State in the CARES Act, the $2 trillion recovery bill Congress passed in late March.
Budget provisions will be added to SB 704, while the policy language will be placed in HB 1043. Both chambers are expected to convene at 11am tomorrow, Saturday, May 2, to vote on the bills, although this could still change.
We expect the package to include $6,000,000 for food banks and close to $78,000,000 for school nutrition programs. We also expect it to include around $75,000,000 in small business assistance.
We will continue to keep you updated as we hear more.
