Attendees will vote on the 2017-2019 NCAH Executive Committee. We will also make announcements about exciting changes at NCAH.
In preparation for seeking accreditation from the national Public Health Accreditation Board, the Division of Public Health and its partners have completed a State Health Assessment with 5 identified priorities. The 5 priorities they have chosen are:
Obesity, Nutrition and Physical Activity
Tobacco Use, including e-cigarettes
Infant Mortality/Perinatal Health

Please join us for an NCAH Obesity Committee meeting on Tuesday, August 16, from 10am to 12pm, at the American Heart Association. The Committee will finalize NCAH’s policy priorities for the 2017 legislative long session, and will discuss upcoming grant and funding opportunities.

North Carolina General Assembly Passes State Budget,
Which Includes Funding for the Healthy Corner Store Initiative and You Quit, Two Quit!
Late on Friday, July 1, the North Carolina General Assembly passed the state budget. The budget includes $250,000 for the Healthy Corner Store Initiative and $250,000 for You Quit, Two Quit! The General Assembly then adjourned sine die and will return in January 2017, for legislative long session. The Governor is expected to sign the budget without controversy.

Funding for the Healthy Corner Store Initiative
and You Quit, Two Quit Included in the Final State Budget!
On Monday, June 27, the North Carolina General Assembly released the final version of the long-awaited state budget. The budget includes $250,000 for the Healthy Corner Store Initiative and $250,000 for You Quit, Two Quit!
The Senate is expected to vote on the budget on Tuesday, June 28. The House will begin voting on Wednesday, June 29, or Thursday, June 30. Please stay tuned for further updates on the outcomes of these votes.
