Alliance Obesity Committee Meeting
Monday, August 31; 1:30 – 3:30 pm

The NC Alliance for Health Obesity Committee will hold a meeting at the American Heart Association on Monday, August 31, from 1:30 – 3:30 pm.

This meeting will include a brief wrap-up of the outcomes from the 2015 legislative session (if session has adjourned!), with a focus on our healthy food access work, as well as a detailed updated on the progress of NCAH’s Voices for Healthy Kids grant activities. There have been many developments with the grant and many new plans for the fall that we are excited to share with members and partners. We will also discuss NCAH’s potential obesity policy priorities for the coming 2016 short session. We encourage all of our obesity-focused partners to attend and contribute to the conversation!

If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Morgan Wittman Gramann.

NC Alliance for Health Quarterly Membership Meeting
and Quit to Win, NC Kickoff

Monday, October 5; 1:30 – 3:30 pm

The NC Alliance for Health is pleased to announce that our October 5 quarterly membership meeting will serve as the kickoff event for the Quit to Win, NC campaign. Quit to Win, NC is a week-long campaign to promote the importance of and resources for tobacco-use cessation in North Carolina. One of the campaign’s goals is to help the state reduce its high smoking rate of 20.2%, which is higher than the national rate of 18%. The Healthy NC 2020 goal is to reduce the smoking rate to 13%.

This campaign is open to all of our members and partners, and we welcome you to join NCAH in supporting this important effort. For more information about the Quit to Win, NC campaign, please see this one-page description of the effort.

If you are interested in joining the Quit to Win, NC campaign or have any questions, please contact Pam Seamans or Morgan Wittman Gramann.

Please join us for the Alliance quarterly membership meeting Monday, October 5, from 1:30 – 3:30 pm at the American Heart Association for this kickoff.  This meeting will also include a brief wrap-up of the 2015 legislative session. A proposed agenda and minutes from the June membership meeting will be sent closer to the meeting date.

We hope you can join us!
