About NCAH

The North Carolina Alliance for Health (NCAH) is an independent, statewide coalition of individuals and organizations with a commitment to educating the public by disseminating research, data, and evidence-based solutions to reduce obesity and tobacco use in the state. We create opportunities for individuals and organizations to come together for discourse around the health issues facing North Carolinians.

Mission

Convene and mobilize partners to advance equitable health policies that promote wellness and prevent obesity and tobacco use.

Vision

All North Carolinians will live healthier lives, protected by strong health policies that prevent chronic disease.

Specifically, the North Carolina Alliance for Health has focused on:

  • reducing exposure to secondhand smoke by supporting smoke-free and tobacco-free campaigns;
  • increasing awareness of the dangers of tobacco use, including e-cigarette use through educational and media campaigns;
  • increasing access to healthy foods in schools and communities through farm-to-school programs, Healthy Corner Store Initiatives, strengthening school nutrition standards, and SNAP/EBT use at farmers’ markets; and
  • increasing opportunities for active living through Safe Routes to School programs, built environments, fitness testing in schools, and comprehensive physical education classes, including honors classes.
