The following sample letters endorse a significant increase in the state's cigarette tax. The Alliance encourages
supporters of an increased cigarette tax to tailor these sample letters for their own personal use, using personal
anecdotes along with arguments and statistics that would be of interest in your local community. The media needs to
hear regularly from people like you in support of increasing our state's dismally low cigarette tax by at least $.75.

All the major news outlets in the state (except the Winston-Salem Journal) have strongly endorsed an increase in the state's cigarette tax to protect the public's health and generate revenues that can be used to restore vital programs that have been cut back or eliminated in the last few years.
